My husband.

Let me just tell you a bit about him here.

As if one blog entry could really capture all that he is.

He cares about people. He really really does. He loves making people feel welcomed, loved, cared about, and befriended.

The minute a guest enters our home, he always beats me to the first line, "Can I get you something to drink?"

He can't wait to cut up watermelon for guests, make fresh ice tea, and serve dinner without even knowing people were coming over. He is the one who pushes me to have more friends over to our place. He's always thinking of someone we should get to know better and invite to come over. He can't wait to play a game afterwards, and share a laugh or two.

Just a few weeks ago he volunteered to fix our friend's computer... it was dropped and completely fried. He figured out a way to get all the pictures/music/videos off even though the computer was completely dead. He's a genius.

He fixed someone's car this week and is scheduled to head over to another friend's house tomorrow to fix their car as well.

He gets up with our daughter many mornings so I can get a few more moments of shut eye. He makes her forts with pillows and blankets, tickles her, reads her books, kisses her, tells her he loves her, offers to put her to bed, changes her diaper, feeds her, and everything else in between.

He cares about every single youth group student we teach. He thinks about them all throughout the week and wonders how we can encourage them even more. He's willing to talk about what you want to talk about just so that you feel special. He will ask you about your life, your work, your hobbies, what you did today, and what you will do tomorrow. And he honestly cares about your answers.

He surprises me while I'm cooking dinner just to wrap his arms around me, give a soft kiss, and whisper in my ear that he loves me.

He's willing to learn new things in the hopes that he can serve others better. And he doesn't want you to pay him for it. Unless you are ridiculously good at making baked goods...

He is always striving to know Father more deeply. He has a favorite speaker and watches his podcasts regularly, yearning to learn more. He reads the Word with me many nights, and oftentimes reminds me "it's not about us, its about Him" whenever I am a bit on the selfish side. His favorite quote is, "It's not about being comfortable. It's about serving Him."

He's willing to say he's sorry. He admits when he messes up. He wants to be a better man every day and doesn't think he's "arrived".

When I tell him I'm excited to get fit and work out, he comments that he thinks I've always looked beautiful.

Here's to our husbands who love us and serve with all their heart. Now it's your turn. Comment below all about your amazing hubby, and tell us what makes him so special :)

  1. Let me be the first to agree with have a great husband! With so many wives being so quick to diss their husbands in front of their girlfriends, it's so nice to read how someone is so encouraged by, romanced, and loved by their husband! We are so blessed with men who love God even more than they love us! That is what makes our men so steadfast, I think. :) I love your blog, Casey. So many interesting things on here--God is truly blessing others through you every day!

  2. Amen Casey and Laura! I am surrounded by women who do not (or will not make the effort to) appreciate their own husbands, while putting little effort into noticing all the 'good things' of the husbands who do not belong to them. I'm so blessed to have a handful of great friends who do, indeed, appreciate, adore and admire their beloved.

Thanks for the great post...can't wait to read all of the entries out there!

    God Bless from America...

  3. Casey, I'm so happy for you that you have found someone who so clearly God made for you and God made you for him. :)

My husband, Steve, is pretty amazing as well. He is a complete hands-on daddy and is such a help with the kiddos. They love him to pieces as well. He is always making sure that I am ok and not stressed out and is constantly striving to make our family more God-centered and keeping Christ as the foundation of our family. He is an amazing leader, husband, lover, friend, father and brother in Christ.

And I totally wanted to post on this blog before I even saw your lovely giveaway! :) Love you, girl!

  4. I too think it is so much more productive when we as ladies "boast" about our husbands. It shows them respect and admiration rather than disrespect and contempt. Thank you for encouraging wives and husbands alike to take a moment to jot down a few positive things that makes their spouse special! contest or no, I think it is a great opportunity for people to share...

During our pre-marital counseling we were instructed to write down all the reasons we wanted to marry the other. No limit, just write until you couldn't think of any more. I think I filled up 3 pages before I stopped! I know many things have been added to that list as I have gotten to know Brian better through the years and learned to love him more deeply. One of the best things about Brian is his love for people. He cares about people and sacrifices his own time and resources to help them out whenever he can. He also has such a teachable spirit which I have seen amplified this past year. He is so great with kids and even though we don't have any children I know when the time comes he will make a wonderful father and I really look forward to seeing him in that role. He works very hard to provide for us and give to others. He makes it easy to trust him and follow him as I know he is always looking to our Father for guidance/direction in every decision he makes! Brian's actions have always shown me love and I am so thankful for all the many ways he shows it. I couldn't ask for a better man to spend the rest of my life with!

  5. I love this! It IS so powerful to speak it out!
Jason is an AMAZING man! As a husband, he is wonderful. He helps me out around the house, loves to spend time with me, is a great story-teller, works hard to provide for us, understands me, I fall more in love with him every day! And as a father, wow! Jason was so ready and excited to become a dad - he has been right in there from the start. He changes diapers without being asked, plays with them every day, puts them to bed EVERY night, reads the bible to them/us, listens to them. And he is ready to have more kids! I love it!
Jason's love to study the Word has drawn me into a deeper love of the Word, and his desire to things to be done right, and in truth and encouraged me also. We have fun together, still end up talking until 3am sometimes, can't wait to get the kids to bed so we can hang out together! He is the love of my life and I am forever changed and a better woman because of him!

  6. This is the first of your blog that I've seen and I love it! What a great way to brag on your guy! I just have to say that I agree with you that you got a pretty good one, but I am partial to my hubby and am privileged to have been chosen to be Nate's partner in life. He is such and encourager and support and I love how he passionately leads our family. I pray that you guys will always be blessed by each other as well. As you have so eloquently lifted up Danny, may he in turn praise you saying, "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Keep up your blogs, I like the coffee time :-) Heidi Hinton
