Why I am not voting for Obama

I am not a deeply political person, nor do I ever impose my political thoughts on others. I am writing this on my blog for anyone interested in my political stance. I do not desire to debate or anger you in any way. I simply desire to open up my heart to you.

When the topic of abortion comes up, I am passionate.

I know my parents would be okay with me telling you this next bit of information. It, after all, is part of our family testimony.

When my parents found out they were pregnant with me, they were not married. I was a surprise. They did not have a true relationship with the Lord at that time, and therefore this unexpected "speed bump" of life came at a bad time.

Abortion was an option. Instead the Lord came powerfully and revealed Himself to my father who then had a change of heart. My parents married, I was not aborted, and we became a family.

When I was a little girl my father would take me to abortion clinics and show me to them. He would explain to the women how I was unwanted at first. Needless to say his efforts were not appreciated.

My life is a gift from God. I was not aborted. I am here today because of the grace of God. And because I am here, my two beautiful children are here. Thank you Jesus.

I don't mean to sound prideful in any way. But please consider this. What would your life be like if you had never met me? Have I helped or impacted your life in any way? Now think of the millions of babies who never were given a chance at life. What had God created them to be, what had He prepared for them to do in this life? You might have had a best friend, or a teacher, or a friend for your children. But they were never born, because they were murdered.

I hate abortion.

Please consider abortion in this election. The millions of innocent babies still being formed in their mothers' wombs being murdered... does this not grip your heart with sadness? They cannot defend themselves. Amidst my severe grief over this issue, I find peace when I imagine their precious souls snuggling on the lap of Jesus in heaven. I know He is comforting them, surrounding them in His arms of love.

Despite who our next president will be, I know Jesus Christ is forever on the throne. He alone can heal a nation and restore us. I know a president cannot save us. But I do believe it is our duty to vote for a president who values the life of the most innocent and helpless of us all.

I read an article this morning and I couldn't agree more. Here is an excerpt from it here:

I truly believe that no Christian should in good conscience vote to re-elect the most pro-abortion president in America’s history. There are certain issues that transcend political parties and partisan politics and for Christians who believe in the Biblical ideal of justice, the protection of innocent human life is nonnegotiable. There are certainly other issues of moral importance that should be considered. But no one who works to expand and normalize institutional evil deserves the votes of a follower of Christ.

The sad and incontrovertible fact is that Barack Obama is deeply committed  to protecting and expand just such an institution evil. Under his watch, his administration has championed the destruction of the innocent and the Democratic Party has enshrined abortion as an essential right. No longer is the mantra to keep “safe, legal, and rare.” Today, the Obama administration and the DNC unequivocally support abortion on demand and opposes any efforts to limit the practice for any reason—including sex-selection and partial-birth abortions.

For that reason Obama should be inelegible for the votes of Christians who take the demands of social justice seriously.

When we cast out vote for president we must do so not on the basis of the next four years, forty years, or even four hundred years. We must do so from the perspective of eternity, knowing that we will someday have to answer for our decision before our Creator.

  1. Amen! Preach it Casey! I know that wasn't your intent, but I want to encourage you to use your heart to speak out what God has put inside of it. That is the picture He is giving me for so many reasons. He is loosening my jaw to speak. Healing the fear or rejection that has disabled my voice. I've lived in fear that no one wants to hear what I have to say because it's opposite of the "norm". In actuality, I believe this world is tired of the smelly, old, living and are seeking something the refreshes the soul and does not kill. As someone that is currently living in a country that has liberal abortion policies, I see that terror and darkness over its population. When we go against God's word and do not hate what He hates, we invite it to reign in our towns. It's a darkness for sure.

But greater is HE that is in us! Everyone wants to know this sacrificial and PURE love in Jesus. It's time I speak and act out in love with the expectation that they really DO want to hear what He has to say!

Amen and God bless you sister!

    1. Thank you Alicia :) Honestly, I have been avoiding this topic for so long in fear that my friends/family would be angry at me and no longer want a relationship with me. But it hit me that Jesus Himself was hated and ridiculed for standing up for truth, so why should I shy away from speaking truth? I only care to stand up for the ones who have no voice, the babies who need us to stand up for them. When I stand before Christ some day I want to be pure and faultless in every way before His throne. Every day I examine my heart in humility wanting a pure life before Him. Thank you for encouraging me as I was feeling especially down after posting this.
